The Board and staff of the National Black Cultural Information Trust, Inc. (NBCI Trust) are deeply saddened by the passing of our esteemed Board Member, Harper Glenn, author of Monarch Rising.
Harper Glenn was a Non-Binary, African American writer of poems, short stories, Young Adult Fiction.
In addition to creating literary works rooted in #OWNVOICES, POC (People of Color) and LGBTQIA+ in underrepresented spaces in America, they were passionate about books unveiling injustice involving the psychological and sociological economic disparities between poverty stricken regions of the world.
Harper’s voice, creativity, and dedication enriched our organization and the broader world of Black literature and culture. Their commitment to storytelling, community, and cultural preservation inspired all who worked with them.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Harper’s family, friends, colleagues, and readers. In honor of their memory, NBCI Trust will continue to uplift and protect the legacies of Black authors and artists, holding fast to the values Harper championed.
Rest in power, Harper Glenn.
