This episode focuses on Black vaccination rates, misinformation, and how Black health care workers are informing and building trust among Black communities. In the episode, Jessica Ann Mitchell Aiwuyor, founder of NBCI Trust, discusses misinformation and how it spreads. Aiwuyor warns, “We can talk about misinformation all day but until we provide information, trustworthiness, and access, we’ll continue to have these problems.” Aiwuyor also points out communications issues concerning public officials, “It’s not just misinformation that’s the problem. It’s under-communication that’s also a problem.”
Aiwuyor also recently discussed “vaccine apartheid” with Dr. Lawrence T. Brown.
