National Black Cultural Information Trust, Inc. Receives General Operating Support Grant from the Surdna Foundation

We are proud to announce that the National Black Cultural Information Trust has received a two-year General Operating Support grant from the Surdna Foundation, marking a powerful milestone in our organization’s growth and long-term sustainability.

General operating support is one of the most impactful forms of funding a nonprofit can receive. It strengthens our infrastructure, supports our staff, and allows us to respond flexibly to the evolving needs of Black communities nationwide. This investment helps ensure that our work in cultural communications, advancing reparatory justice, protecting Black history, narrative change, and uplifting Black cultural storytelling remains strong, strategic, and sustainable.

The Surdna Foundation seeks to foster sustainable communities in the United States — communities guided by principles of social justice and distinguished by healthy environments, inclusive economies, and thriving cultures. Learn more at www.surdna.org.

This vision closely reflects our own commitment to ensuring Black communities have the resources, power, and cultural truth they deserve.

At a time when Black history, education, and cultural institutions face growing political and financial threats, this support affirms the importance of our mission and the urgency of this work. It enables us to continue building tools for truth, investing in cultural communications, and anchoring community-centered memory and research for future generations.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Surdna Foundation for this meaningful investment in our work and in the communities we serve. This support helps ensure that our impact will not only continue but grow.
