The Origins of Black America

African American or Black American are interchangeable terms used to describe the descendants of Africans that were enslaved, part of maroon communities, and free in the United States of America. For the purposes of reparations, some activists use the term Descendants of Africans Enslaved in the United States (DAEUS).
