On Saturday, May 30, 2026, Prince George’s County hosted the “We The People” 250th Block Party in commemoration of America’s 250th Anniversary at the Bowie Center for Performing Arts. The National Black Cultural Information Trust, participated as an exhibitor featuring our “Living Legacy: 250 Years of Culture Pop-Up Experience,” an interactive exhibit celebrating African American history, culture, and community stories as part of our Freedom Culture: 250 Years of Reparative Justice Experience.
Visitors saw displays of historical Black history books and cultural items that showed the impact of African Americans on the nation’s history. Some of the featured works were Roots, The African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross, Eyewitness: The Negro in American History, Black Reconstruction in America, Roots Vol. IV, and The Counter-Revolution of 1776. These books and exhibits helped people learn about key African American events, individuals, and contributions over America’s 250 years of existence.The “We The People 250th Block Party” brought people together with music, performances, educational activities, and cultural experiences. Guests enjoyed live shows, books, interesting historical facts, food vendors, and arts and crafts for everyone. NBCI Trust’s Living Legacy: 250 Years of Culture Pop-Up Experience at the 250th Block Party offered a friendly space for learning, connecting with, and celebrating African American culture and history. As part of America’s 250th anniversary, the event honored the past and inspired future generations to keep sharing and preserving this important history.
